Public Holiday Declared in Pakistan for Kashmir Day on 5th February 2025

Pakistan will observe a nationwide public holiday on Wednesday, 5th February, as the nation along with Kashmiris around the globe commemorates Kashmir Solidarity Day. This day is dedicated to supporting the people of Kashmir and recognizing their ongoing struggle for independence.

The government has announced that all educational institutions, banks, public offices, and most private sector entities will remain closed to mark this significant day. This decision facilitates citizens to actively participate in rallies, seminars, and events organized to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Kashmir Solidarity Day has been observed annually across Pakistan and by Kashmiris worldwide since 1990. The day is marked by various events including special prayers in mosques for the liberation of Kashmir, public processions, and cultural programs that highlight Kashmiri heritage and the resilience of its people in face of adversity.

The government has also encouraged educational institutions to conduct seminars and exhibitions that shed light on the cultural and historical aspects of Kashmir. Media channels across the country will broadcast special programs and debates discussing the history of the Kashmir conflict and its geopolitical implications.

Public transport may run on a limited schedule, and citizens are advised to plan their travel accordingly. Security measures will be heightened in major cities to ensure peaceful observance of the day.

As Pakistan stands in solidarity, the observance of this public holiday serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by the Kashmiri people and the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
