Early Disbursement of Salaries and Pensions for Government Employees on 31st January

In a move that will bring relief to government employees and pensioners across Punjab, the Finance Department of the Government of Punjab has announced the early disbursement of salaries and pensions for January 2025. The payments, typically scheduled for the beginning of February, will instead be released on January 31st, a Friday.

The decision, as detailed in a government directive issued on January 13th, is a response to the upcoming gazetted holidays on the 1st and 2nd of February. The Governor of Punjab has approved the early payment to ensure that employees and pensioners have access to their funds before the holidays.

According to the directive, all Accountant Generals and Treasury Officers across Punjab are instructed to take the necessary steps to ensure the timely disbursement of the funds. This includes coordination with various banks including the State Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Ltd., United Bank Ltd., and several other regional banks to facilitate the process smoothly.

“This step is taken to ensure that our employees and pensioners do not face any inconvenience during the holidays,” stated the Secretary of the Government of Punjab Finance Department in the directive. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of its employees, urging all departments to comply strictly with the schedule.

The directive has also been sent to all administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, heads of attached departments, and district & sessions judges in Punjab, ensuring that the message is communicated effectively throughout the province.

Furthermore, the Director General of Public Relations Punjab is tasked with the responsibility to publicize this information through print and electronic media, and to post the notification on the official web page of the Finance Department.

This proactive approach by the Punjab government is part of its broader efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and employee satisfaction within the region.
