Punjab Government Seeks Information on Demand for School Teacher Interns (STIs) Across all Districts

The Punjab government is taking proactive steps to assess the demand for School Teacher Interns (STIs) across all districts, signaling a strategic move to bolster the educational workforce. In a directive issued by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority, education officials in various districts have been tasked with compiling data on the requirement for STIs as outlined by the strategic teacher requirements (STR).

This initiative stems from discussions held during an online Zoom meeting led by the Additional Secretary (Schools), Punjab School Education Department, on January 17, 2025. The goal is to gather accurate and timely information that will shape the upcoming STI recruitment process, ensuring it meets the educational needs across Punjab.

Marked as a “Top Priority” and “Time Bound” task, District Education Officers from sectors such as SE, EE-M, and EE-W have been urged to submit their data according to a specific proforma shared via WhatsApp.

The anticipation of the official STI job advertisement, expected soon after the data collection phase, has sparked interest among potential candidates eager to join the teaching sector. This advertisement will likely outline the number of positions available, the qualifications required, and the application process.

This measure reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education by ensuring that schools across Punjab are staffed with qualified and motivated teachers. By addressing the shortage of teaching staff through targeted recruitment, the Punjab government aims to improve educational outcomes and support the professional growth of aspiring educators in the region.

Overall, this systematic approach to recruiting School Teacher Interns is part of a broader effort to strengthen the educational infrastructure in Punjab, promising a significant step forward in the pursuit of educational excellence.
